D-Link Dual-Band Wireless Router Wins LAPTOP Magazine Editors' Choice

D-Link, the end-to-end computer networking solutions provider for consumer and business, today announced that its dual-band 802.11n router for home and office has received "Editors' Choice" honors in the latest issue of LAPTOP Magazine, one of the computer industry's most popular publications.

In his review of computer networking routers in the same category, LAPTOP Editor John Brandon said the D-Link® Xtreme N® Dual-Band Gigabit Router (DIR-825) is "quite the bargain…considering all of its helpful features and top-notch HD Fuel® technology…and offers better quality of service (QoS) and power-saving features."

The DIR-825 was introduced last year to meet the demand for greater speed and functionality in a lower-priced package. Its dual band functionality is like having two routers in one. Users can check email and browse the Internet on the 2.4-gigahertz band while simultaneously streaming high-definition (HD) movies and other bandwidth-intensive media on the 5GHz band. This also makes it ideal for online gaming applications on gaming consoles such as PS3®, Xbox 360® and the Nintendo Wii®.

"D-Link has done a lot more than add simultaneous support," added Brandon. "The DIR-825 offers a USB port for sharing a printer or storage device across a network along with quality of service technology that prioritizes high-def video. It can even help you lower your energy bill."

Brandon was referencing D-Link GreenTM technology that saves energy by allowing the user to schedule the Wi-Fi to turn off when it is not needed and reduces power to unused ports, as well as D-Link's unique new SharePort™ technology that lets users share network devices such as printers and storage devices through the router's USB port. In the magazine's review lab testing, it "worked like a charm," said Brandon. He also praised the DIR-825 for its ease of installation and security features.
